The team at TRI has industry experience that spans biotechnology
and large multinational pharmaceutical companies. Expertise
ranges from early discovery research, through clinical development,
product life-cycle management, business development and licensing.
The team works with TPC's world-class scientists and a select
group of external advisors and opinion leaders to identify
investment opportunities that are strategically sound and
can be effectively managed and supported to ensure a win:

Graeme Martin Ph.D.
Dr. Martin is
President and CEO of TRI with day-to-day responsibility for operations. He brings more than 28 years of
pharmaceutical R&D experience, primarily in multinational Pharmas (Wellcome; Glaxo Wellcome: Hoffman La Roche).
He was responsible for the discovery and preclinical development of Zomig®, marketed worldwide for the acute
treatment of migraine. More recently, Dr. Martin served as Chief Technical Officer at Telik Inc.
with responsibility for technology and business development before establishing a Bay Area biopharmaceutical
consulting operation, Discovery-Insight. Dr. Martin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology
from the University of Bath, and his doctorate from University College, London, UK.
Etsuya Matsutani, Ph.D.
Dr. Matsutani joined TRI as Senior Vice President in March 2007. He spent 20 years in pharmacology
research at Takeda Pharmaceutical Company, including a sabbatical in Dr.Folkman's laboratory, Children's Hospital,
Harvard Medical School. Subsequently, Dr. Matsutani headed up Takeda's oncology drug discovery activities, serving
as Research Manager (Oncology) in the Pharmacology Research Laboratories. More recently, he has served as Senior
Manager of Business Development at Takeda's headquarters for global licensing. Dr. Matsutani graduated and
received his doctorate from Nagoya University, Japan, and spent several years as Research Fellow at National
Institute of Genetics, Japan.
Juan M.E. Harrison Mr. Harrison joined TRI as Vice President in January 2008. He brings
more than 21 years of biopharmaceutical R&D, product licensing, business development and
strategy experience. Most recently, Mr. Harrison was a partner with ProPharma Partners
International, where he specialized in developing and implementing business and licensing
strategy for emerging and established biopharmaceutical companies. Prior to this, he held
senior business development positions at XenoPort Inc., PowderJect Inc., Connetics
Corporation and Alza Corporation. In addition, Mr. Harrison held product development
management and research positions at Alza, where he began his career in 1985. Mr.
Harrison received his Bachelor of Sciences in Combined Sciences from Santa Clara
University in California, USA.
Shingo Makino, Ph.D.
Dr. Makino is Manager,
Scientific Evaluation at TRI. He has more than 14 years
pharmaceutical research experience specializing in organic and
computational chemistry, firstly with Ajinomoto and
subsequently with Takeda Pharmaceutical Company. He is the
principal inventor of two small molecule drug candidates, both
of which reached Phase II clinical development. Recently Dr.
Makino was responsible for establishing and managing external
medicinal chemistry relationships for Takeda, especially in
China. He received his Master’s degree in organic chemistry
from Tokyo Institute of Technology, and obtained his Doctorate
from Tokyo University,
